Viking Services

Viking services calls my cell phone, and leaves a message for "Ron" to call. I call them and tell them that obviously they have the wrong number, I have never done business with Viking, I don't have late bills, and am not attached to a " Ron".... Viking dialed the wrong number!!!! The dumb *** on the other end of the phone doesn't get it... and asks me how I know Ron... lmfao..... So this "Ron" person uses my phone number as his bogus home phone, land line..... and I try to explain to Viking again, no such... they just don't get it, and again she asks me... and How do you know "Ron"?? Is he a neighbor?... wtf...... I just told them that I made a mistake informing them that they had a wrong/ bogus number and hung up.

Hard Inquiries on your credit report

I am curious if anyone else has had a problem with a collection agency placing a hard inquiry on their credit report. This type of inquiry will drop your credit score and stay on your report for 2 years. I was sent a copy of my credit report from Transunion, who I have an account with and found that Viking Collection Services did just this in January of this year. They have not contacted me either on the phone or through the mail. Isn't this against the Fair Credit Reporting Act? Please let me know if this is indeed a problem or if this is a normal situation. Is there a way to keep this kind of thing from happening?

Maybe you should contact Viking. That would be a good way to get this sorted out. They obviously have your social security number, you must have an account with them.

Called for a neighbor or ours!!

We received a call from a Kurt Coleman at 1-80*-473-**** on the 12 of May 2012 asking for a neighbor of ours to return his call at Viking Services. I looked on line to check what Viking Services is and it was a lowlife, *** collection agencies that shouldn't be allowed to exist. It was disruptive, agitating, and only meant to embarrass the neighbor. How they found our phone number is a mystery, but I will be reporting it to the California Attorney General's Office. If you need any kind of legal statement as to this personal harassment (without any kind of cause on my part), you can reach me at larryabailey@***.com.

Viking Collection Services

On January 18, 2012, I called VCS to inform them that I needed to revoke my authorized automatic payment per their written instructions. I spoke with an employee named Mike who disregarded everything I was explaining to him regarding my current financial situation, insisting that we make a three way call to my elderly (80) mother in order for him to get her to pay this debt. I said "absolutely not and since I have followed the directive in the letter sent, this conversation is over" and hung up. He immediately called me back and began a diatribe of vulgarity, "F*&^ you, you F&*$%ing B*^ch!!!" He then hung up on me. I have emailed all superiors listed on their website and unless I get satisfactory and timely resolution I will pursue this with the FTC, FCC and hire a lawyer if need be. This behavior and language are ILLEGAL under the FDCPA Laws 104 - 208, Section 806-2. I would suggest anyone dealing with collection agencies familiarize themslves with theses laws!!!!

This is so bogus it's laughable....all calls are routinely screened and listened to by auditors from the client (the bank they collect for) and in-house personnel. Pay your debt and quit whining

Guest

All calls are monitored and recorded...

Nobody swore at YOU lol. Most likely you swore at them though, that's likely.

Viking Collection Service is one of the BETTER collection companies around. Very very clean record.

Nice try though.

You must work for them, troll.

Guest

I believe her. I DONT care if the calls are recorded.I lost a call one day, and the woman that I was speaking to called back, and cussed me out on my voice mail

Guest

Your story about being vulgar is such a lie...They record all phone calls...which now discredits your whole story....just pay your bills.

Question about collection companies

Just a question please. Do collections companies have to notify you the debt is paid? Or do you just assume that it is paid when they quit calling to remind you of the payment? Christina Firestone used to call me every once in a while as a reminder, but I have not heard from her for a long time. I am certainly not going to call her. Also, does it reflect on credit reports if it is indeed paid? Also, has anyone else been terrorized by Ms. Firestone lately? She must be using a flase name to block her true idenity. Thank you.

Viking Collection Services

Mark Murphy of Viking Collection Services called my home in Virginia for something he was trying to get from my mother who lives in Ohio. He claims he sent her a letter and has been trying to call her for a week to no reply, but won't even state the company he is calling for or what the call is in relation to so I can give that information to my mother.

I feel that getting calls when I have no outstanding debt is harassment, and should be against the law. I do not want to be called nor giving messages for my mother to contact him.

I don't want calls repeating day after day to my number when its not in regards to me -- I don't like it when it is in regards to me. Its annoying and harassing, and a horrible way to conduct business.

Thanks for sharing your FEELINGS. Guess your feelings will be hurt, cause guess what - it isn't against the law to call you to get info.

If you're listed as a reference to get credit, you better believe you'll be called. Again and again and again and again and again. Until you give up the info or until you die. Thinking about changing your phone number?

Go ahead.

Your new number will be on your credit report and you'll be called on that number. The proper thing to do is get your mother to pay the bill, not goon the internet and cry all over your keyboard while typing complaints to the whole world.

Guest

Ask to talk to Doug and complain. Any number you call from they can trace, so be careful when calling from a personal number.

Guest

Maybe he can't tell you why he is calling because of the FDCPA! Why isn't your mom returning a phone call to figure out why he is calling?

Chandra C Xlv

I got a second call from Viking today from one Eric Power 1-80*-***-**** asking for me under my maiden name to call back or to give a message to my mother. I called and left a message not to call me back.

I think Viking is purposefully skirting around the Fair Debt Collections Act by having different people contact me one time to try and reach my mother or garner location information. This is unacceptable and should be illegal.

§ 804. Acquisition of location information

Any debt collector communicating with any person other than the consumer for the purpose of acquiring location information about the consumer shall—

(1) identify himself, state that he is confirming or correcting location information concerning the consumer, and, only if expressly requested, identify his employer;

(2) not state that such consumer owes any debt;

(3) not communicate with any such person more than once unless requested to do so by such person or unless the debt collector reasonably believes that the earlier response of such person is erroneous or incomplete and that such person now has correct or complete location information;

(4) not communicate by post card;

(5) not use any language or symbol on any envelope or in the contents of any communication effected by the mails or telegram that indicates that the debt collector is in the debt collection business or that the communication relates to the collection of a debt; and

(6) after the debt collector knows the consumer is represented by an attorney with regard to the subject debt and has knowledge of, or can readily ascertain, such attorney’s name and address, not communicate with any person other than that attorney, unless the attorney fails to respond within a reasonable period of time to the communication from the debt collector.

Calls relentlessly at late hours!

Viking Services has called my personal cell every single day for months multiple times a day even at late hours. I have told them personaly that if they wish to communicate with me they can do so via mail and i do not wish to recieve any more phone calls. However, they continually call. When I did speak with them they were rude and told me that they would call weather i wanted them to or not. Horrible company! They ask for personal information without even telling you why they are calling, and when you ask why they are very rude!

they cant call you before 8 am and after 9 pm....pay your bill and you wont get calls....problem solved :cry

Guest

I had this happen to me, with a student loan that was supposed to be deferred while I was in school.

I talked to my family's lawyer and he said that I needed to write a ceast and desist letter and outline what is expected and how to communicate.

After doing this, I had no more phone calls and all communication were in writing.

You can find a template online if you need to.

Good luck!

Viking Collections harassed me

I have no debt or account or any other connection to this company. Mark called my personal cell phone at 9pm. He was very deceptive, harassing and evasive, demanding money for some overdue accounts but wouldn't even tell me why or what the accounts, account numbers, what type, etc.!! He was fishing for information which I would not give this shady character and eventually he hung up on me. He attempted to be intimidating and threatening and became belligerent when I was not intimidated. This person needs to be fired and this company needs to clean up its act!!

Was he able to even get a word in edge wise? If you communicate with people, you could resolve this much faster.

I have worked in collections, and many people have a excuse.

Try to put yourself in their place. It's not an easy job, but without them, we would all be paying 21% interest on everything.

Guest

I just had one call my office as well asking for a co-worker. I told Kevin that he was at lunch and would be back.

He said I'll call back. In the mean time I binged his number and found out it was a collection agency. When he called back I told him this is a place of business and to remove the number from his list and he said I don't have a list...first lie...then he started yelling at me that he wanted to talk to my co-worker I said NO and hung up. He called back and I hung up on him again.

He then proceeded to call the Home office and tell them all about the co-workers dept. YES they have to stop and yes they can be sued. We've contacted our people to start the process. Once they've been notified to Stop calling the place of business they HAVE to or be sued.

It's the law!.

So got to your states web site and look up your rights "Your Rights Under Fair Debt Law". There should be a phone number to report them.

Guest

Jamie Schwartz just called our business line for a co-worker and was abusive, intimidating, sarcastic, and all around an *** I do not owe anything nor should I have to be berated for something that does not pertain to me an any form. He threatened to talk to my boss and even the president of the company if I didn't get my co-worker on the phone.

There has to be some way to make him (if that is even his real name) stop calling this number. Does anyone know who to contact or file a complaint with?

Insisted on me telling my last 4 of ssan

I returned the call I was receiving on my cell phone. I was getting daily voice mails to call Chris back at "Viking." I did a search and found there was a Viking Collection Agency. I called the number and identified myslf by name to the person on the other. He insisted that I give my last 4 of ssan as a way to identify myself. I asked why Viking was trying to get in touch with me. No answer was given. When I explained I did not give that type of info over the phone and offered to supply other identifying info, he told me to have a nice day and hung up.

Its for security reasons.....would you rather they be able to talk about your account to anyone who opens your letter? Pay your bill and they wont call you.....problem solved

Guest

I received a letter in the mail stating that I owed money to Avis Budget Rental. I called Conrad Lee and informed him that I did not owe any money to Avis and how did he tied my name to this bill.

He provide me with the last 4 digits of my SS # and I asked how did he get that.

He said that they ran a query using 1st and last name and look for anyone with that name living within a certain area. Thid riduculous and something needs to be done regarding this intrusion

Viking Debt Collectors - No regard to ethics or law

Viking Collection called me today. They said it was a debt for "my name here" and they were collecting it. Never identified who the actual person was. They told me they had the paperwork for months but had for some reason never contacted me. I told them that the account they are referencing was paid and closed over 4 years ago. He started getting rude and interrupting me saying that I am not being honest and if it really was closed to fax over the paperwork right now as after today they are taking highest legal action possible. I told him to never contact me by phone again until you send me written proof of the debt and that you have the right to collect it. He refused to do so and said they have a bunch of times (yet he just said they had never contacted before) and I told him I am not discussing this issue further as it was paid off. He starts yelling at me and I tell him never to call again. He screams that he will keep calling back until I pay the debt off and they will take the highest legal action possible and then reads off the whole "this call might be recorded" and I hung up. Ten seconds later he calls back from the same number and leaves a scrambled minute long voicemail. About 15 minutes past that he calls from a different number and once more. I paid off this account in 2005 so they are obviously up to no good and obviously aren't acting in a professional or legal manner.

Viking Services Collection

This company continues to harrass after being told repeatedly that the adult they are looking for doesn't live in my home. They call constantly, very early in the morning - weekdays, weekends, whenever they choose. When told to stop calling, they are unbelievably rude. When I told them that I'd be filing a complaint, they said - "Good luck with that". Add incredible arrogance to the list. They clearly think that they can do whatever they want to innocent people. What can be done? I don't know, but I plan to find out. Sorry Viking, wrong consumer this time!

Not everyone receiving collections calls is unethical - some just have had difficult circumstances. Some even make arrangements through other agents or attorneys, and collection calls still come in to them and others.

Guest

call your state attorney general office and file a complaint. whether you owe it or not check online to find out your states statute of limiations.

if you know that the sol has passed simply tell them they are illegally trying to collect a time barred debt. which they have no legal recourse to collect

Guest

When you sign your name as a reference or family member of someone who stops paying their car payment EXPECT CALLS!!! This is precisely the reason the banks request these kinds of names and numbers so that they can locate a person once they are driving around in a car they stopped paying on.Try being honest and telling them where the unethical person might be and maybe they will actually leave you alone!!!

Viking Collection Services - Unfair Collection Practice

Viking has called me on several occasions, only asking for an account to which a previous debt can be charged to - ie. a credit card number or a checking account number. They have failed to send me proof of my debt, and have generally been threatening and unprofessional over the phone, with statements such as, "You better pay this", "Why can't you pay your debt? Don't you have any money?" and "Don't contact the original creditor. They're only going to tell you to call me back." Eventually, after numerous requests for validation of my bills, they sent a statement on "VCS" letterhead that was completely inaccurate. They will definitely be hearing from my lawyers on this.

Christina Firestone from Viking keeps calling

Somehow Christina Firestone has obtained my work number and is looking for a relative of mine, I believe to try and collect money.

I have not and will not give her any contact information concerning this relative, but she continues to call me at work.

If she calls again, I will be sure to get her phone number and a name for a supervisor as this is a very uspsetting occurance for me at my job.

She called last week, and acted like a long-lost friend, and I have never heard of her before.

I wish I knew what to do. She called yesterday, and I asked her not to call me anymore.

She called this morning, and wanted to know why I was yelling at her.

I think they obtained my phone number from a FedEx shipment sent here last Christmas.

I was getting calls from Christina Firestone too. She hasn't called for about a year, so I'm thinking she doesn't work for them anymore. Darn!

In a sense I understand there doing there job but there is a right way and wrong way of doing your job. They keep harrassing me at work and I have already been talked to at work about the calls coming in.

Getting me fired or written up is not gonna help me or them. When you tell them its like they dont hear you and you tell them again and its like you said nothing. They just dont care.....Im sure Ill hear from them tomorrow.

Wish I could pay but times are tough right now. Take a number and get in line.

Guest

For the person who wrote, comment number one, well - "No Brains, No Headaches" Must be nice! Are you personally responsible for every person in YOUR family?

That is simply archaic to blame a family member for what someone else does! You'll eat those words one day, but are probably not smart enough to even realize when it happens.

Guest

Maybe your relative shoul pay their bills.

I have had the same problems but worse with her! HELP!

Viking makes violent threats

After Viking kept calling looking for a relative who does not live at the home, we told them not to contact us any more. Received another voice mail consisting of a recorded gunshot. Phone company showed the number as Viking Collections. FBI has been notified. Relevant atty. generals have been notified. Report was filed with FTC. We will see if anything becomes of all this. This company seems to continually get caught violating the law, but is still in business? How? I need to fill this space up to 100 words, argh, I guess my summary isn't good enough.

Viking Credit Harassment at Work

Julie Olsen with Viking credit has been harassing me at work, where I work at a high stress-level, intense situation. She has asked who my boss is, been verbally abusive to my co-workers, and has over stepped her boundries countless times. In this day and age, this kind of abuse is completely inappropriate. I cannot take calls at work at all, unless they are work related, and getting me fired from my job is not a great method of money collection. I will be pursuing VIGORISLY a legal end to her harassment, and I know that Chase Bank sells their overdue credit card balances, so maybe re-thinking Chase Bank is a good idea as well.

Had a different experience. They did call my husbands work and boss, but as soon as I talked to them(A nice woman by the name of Sarah Jones) they agreed to only call the number I gave them, and they did stop calling other numbers.

When I spoke to her she explained every possible option of payment, what form of payment, and we came up with a payment plan that I could handle. I guess not everybody is as lucky to talk to somebody as kind as my representative.

Guest

They have called people in my family demanding that they take care of the issue. They have called my work asking to talk with my boss, who is the owner of the company, she has even gotten in arguments with me suggesting that I am lying and that someone in my family or my office will come up and just loan me the money. Her name is Amy Hall

I had yet another call on my cell..looking for some Goat-Raper named Mustapha. For 2+ Years...

I have had calls from everywhere looking for this dirtbag..and it is *** me off..

it isn't like this is a new phone number to me.. I have had it for 15 years!!!

Guest

Adel Burrows keeps calling my phone asking for someone I have never even heard of...

Guest

My hours were cut to 20 per week and I got behind on the card payments. Delila is telling me to borrow from my parents (not an option).

She's calling my employer which has already resulted in a 5 day suspension. She's still calling the employer.

I've asked repeatedly that they NOT call my employer to no avail. If I lose my job because of this harrassment - they'll never get a dime!

Guest

These people are outrageous!! All I did was run up a credit card to the tune of $24,000 (which is only half of my yearly salary) and then made minimum payments for a year and half.

Then I missed a payment or 14 and the bank decided they had to send it to a collection agency. These people then have the nerve to call me and tell me that I should pay them back. All I said was that I don't have anything at all to offer, much less the 24 grand I owe. They then tell me I should ask my friends and family for $8,000 to reach a settlement with the bank.

Naturally I told them "I'm not going to borrow money from anyone that I know" since that would mean I would actually have to swallow my pride and have an uncomfortable conversation with the people I was trying so hard to impress that I ran the card up (picking up the tab at every restaurant and going on shopping sprees every 2 months) to begin with. :cry . Not too mention they were only representing one of the 5 banks that I did this too, so settling wouldn't do anything for me. I mean, come on, how is that going to make me look like a big-shot?

Then they had the nerve to ask me if I could make $200 payments for 3 months and then we could revisit the situation. I told them I couldn't even do that because I have an $800 car payment to make each month (like I'm going to drive a Hyundai) on my super-cool beamer. 8) Then they have the gaul to suggest maybe I should look into filing bankruptcy since I borrowed 200 grand and now all I have to offer are excuses and tales of woe. I am not going to file bankruptcy because those people are *** What kind of person gets into a bad spot and then actually does something about it?

:? I really can't understand how it is that these people are allowed to conduct this type of legitimate business. Don't they realize that they should just go away and allow me to keep the money? What kind of person would do this for a living?

I mean who puts the safety and security of their family above my need to not feel like a deadbeat just because I don't repay anything that I borrow and consider myself to be above filing bankruptcy?

Did I mention that they harassed me by calling me more than once? Isn't this illegal?

Guest

To the woman that said we wouldn't be getting these calls if we paid our bills; obviously you've never lost a job to where you have to pay your house, utilities, buy gas to get to work, etc. Most people are the *** of the earth just because they're behind on their bills. Try to put yourself in other's shoes.

Guest

You are ignorant.

Guest

Isn't loan-sharking supposed to be illegal? What's next, hooded thugs at my door?

Why are these people allowed to continue their services?

They have called over and over today, 4 times so far in 4 hours. The greedy corporate profiteers are out of control!

Guest

same issue here. Guy named David.

Continuously calling my cell phone and my work number. Actually called my work number and told the temp answering the phone that he wanted my manager's name to file a complaint against me. Really? You want money from me or want me to get fired from my job???

Then when he called again the next day... flat out denied it was home.

SO going to the Attorney General with this one. :( :(
